“Climate Change and Low Carbon Living” talk in Canossa Primary School (San Po Kong)

On 16 December 2022, CCIL hosted a talk titled “Climate Change and Low Carbon Living” for Canossa Primary School (San Po Kong). Around 150 Primary 3 students attended that talk.

In order to promote low carbon living, we need to let people know “why” we have to do it. The speaker began the talk with examples of disasters brought by climate change, to let the students know the severity of climate change. Then, the speaker explained the cause of climate change and its impact to human, the environment and other aspects.  When sharing how to practice low carbon living, the speaker shared low carbon living tips from 4 categories: clothing, food, shelter and mobility. The tips including think twice before buying new clothes, use appliances with grade 1 energy level, eat more vegetables and less meat, save water, etc.

The students have learnt knowledge of low carbon living before, and this talk let them understand why we have to do it, and it provides an opportunity for them to review what they have learnt before. The speaker asked the students a lot of questions, and they were eager to answer. We hope that the students would remember and practice what they have learnt that day, and reduce their carbon footprint in their everyday life.
