The Hong Kong Award for Young People (AYP), formerly known as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, was established in Hong Kong in 1961 and is a licensed member of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation. We have unique international principles, which cultivate young people with perseverance and the spirit of self-challenge. Through different leisure activities and voluntary services, young people can be well-equipped in society, discover their hidden abilities and achieve both physical achievement and mental satisfaction.
AYP owns two training camps- The Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Duke of Edinburgh Training Camp and The Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Expeditions Centre. Located in Sai Kung, The Hong Kong Award for Young People Jockey Club Expeditions Centre, was furbished in 2014 to provide day, evening camp and tenting experience. The Centre also offers a wide range of professional water sports training such as board rowing, canoeing, stand-up paddle-boarding, dragon boating and other certificate courses. There are also various training programs and on-site services to enable young people to have comprehensive development.
We have installed 30 solar panels for the Centre, with a system capacity of 11.25 kWp. Its power generation in the first-year was 5,284 kWh.
