Christian Zheng Sheng Association (Zheng Sheng) was found in 1985 by a charitable service organisation run by a group of Christians. It aims at assisting drug abusers (youth and adult- men and women) in drug treatments and guided them on the road to recovery and return to society. The Chinese phrase "Zheng Sheng" come from the bible, with the meaning of "repent, then, and turn to God" and "has passed from death to life".

Mr Lam Hay-sing, the founder of Zheng Sheng, opened a rehab farm for male drug abusers in Kam Tin, New Territories in 1985. Although the facilities were quite primitive, its impact gained public awareness.

Zheng Sheng established a rehabilitation centre for male youth in Chi Ma Wan, Lantau Island in 1993, and established another rehabilitation center for female in 1995 at the same location. In 1998, Christian Zheng Sheng College was built, also at the same location. It is the first government registered secondary school with rehabilitation services in Southeast Asia. In additional to providing formal education for drug abusive youth, the college also receives students from different parts of Asia, including Indonesia and Nepal.

In 2000, Zheng Sheng built an vocational training centre with halfway house in Mui Wo, Lantau Island, a venue provided by the government. At the same year, another vocational training centre for adult was opened in Tuen Mun, New Territories. Zheng Sheng applies the biblical belief in its drug counselling, using education and vocational support in preparing students to return to the society.

223 pieces of solar the solar photovoltaic(PV) panels were installed on the roof and canopies of Zheng Sheng’s centre in Tai O, with a system capacity of 101.66 kWp. The power generation in the first-year was 78,000 kWh.

Solar panels were installed on the roof as well as on the canopies, so as to maximise land use.

Due to loading limit and also to allow walking in between, there is abundant space between each panel.

The weather station collects irradiance and ambient temperature data, which allows engineers to examine the performance of the system from the detected data. It could also be used for taking preventive measures, monitoring potential risks and making timely corrections to the system if necessary.
